Dakota Hotels is a joint venture between PRM and famed European hotelier Ken
McCulloch and was formed to brand, develop and launch a "budget" line of
hotels. The first opened to acclaim in Nottingham, England, in June 2004.
Dakota Hotels is known as "stylish, friendly and an incredible value where
price is a consideration, " at £79 per night, "but where comfort and style is a
must."
All of the hotels will be newly built, making extensive use of black granite,
black cladding and smoked glass on the exteriors, with interiors by famed
designer Amanda Rosa. All rooms will have plasma screen TVs, broadband internet
access and workstations.
The chain is named after the Dakota aircraft which pioneered affordable air
travel. Similarly, Dakota Hotels are intended to herald a return to affordable
but stylish accommodations. Plans include opening a total of 12 Dakotas across
the U.K. with the next slated to open in the Spring of 2006 at a location near
South Queensferry.
