Columbus Hotels, headquartered in Monaco, is a joint venture between PRM and
renowned European hotelier, Ken McCulloch. McCulloch founded Malmaison Hotels,
which was the first new hotel brand in the UK in 30 years. An immediate
success, the hotel group was later sold to what is now Wyndham Hotels. Now
McCulloch has launched a new concept in Columbus, with its flagship opening in
Monaco in 2001.
The new hotel brand is a more highly designed concept and seen as an
alternative to mainstream business hotels. Properties are in architecturally
interesting buildings, chosen for location in ready-made markets. Target
customers find all the service and amenities they want, and none of the
superfluous extras, allowing for a moderate price. Columbus hotels will have
full service food and beverage operations and customer-focused facilities.
Expansion of the brand and site acquisition will
be opportunity driven, with the city targets
clustered by region for a total goal of about 60
hotels.
